Seeking Paradise.

gold melts red
and green leaves drop dew
sky clouds drift
the world dawns anew

wrinkled brow
embedded with seeking thoughts
eyes too lost to dream
amid tangled ropes and knots

seeking paradise
was never this close before
her heart is leaping already
to that foreign shore

yet lives are far too precious
life, what more did she know?
she feared to live, to adventure
to go

how many dreams are dropped
in tear puddles afraid to be
joy is lost
in mazes of uncertainty

so she threw the broken twigs
down on faded moss
back to a world of now
no time for paradise loss

the real world beat her
she barely made it through
but day death came in darkness
and again to hopes she flew

she had no right
to mourn what life never gave
no place
to bury that loveless grave

yet her lonely vigil she kept
and her dream world
just breathing sparked pain
as memories to her mind hurled

seeking paradise
she knew not what
seeking love
escape from this rut

stars in the sky
she grasped one by one
always believing
she found love in none

then o'er the sky shining
brighter yet still
one quiet Star
but this time a thrill

her eyes caught the joy
as clearer this Star came
and this time her heart
put her eyes to shame

for t'was no mere star
dazzling there for her
t'was a Savoir, a Friend
tugging her soul like a lure

she followed
she found
paradise beauty
firm standing ground

now her world today
through pain, through hurt
stands high
she's shed crumbling dirt

joy
in her singing
and joy
in her tears

this is the paradise
she sought for so long
it is her strength, her salvation
her song
